The Stringdusters hit the road for our Summer Tour this Friday with stops in California, Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming before a week on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. I'm thrilled to be joining my mentor, and the inspiration for my solo record, Benny Galloway and our good friend Anders Beck (Broke Mountain, Greensky Bluegrass) for a set of our music at the Northwest String Summit July 18. I'll also be joining Charlottesville guitar god Sam Wilson for a set of his music at The Southern in Charlottesville on August 2nd. I'm planning a StageIt show for September 23rd, Booksy does Jerry, if you're a Garcia fan, don't miss it, only a handful of tickets left! Next month I'll announce solo shows for the fall and more. Stay cool but enjoy the heat, winter will be here before you know it!
June 1 Summertime
May was incredible. It continues in June. I'll be in the studio this week helping a friend make her record before Sarah and I head to North Carolina for shows in Winston-Salem and Hickory. A week of Colorado shows with the 'Dusters with stops in Boulder, Salida and Palisade. On the way back to VA I'll stop off in Nashville for a week of writing and business. June 22nd I'm running 25 kilometers to raise money for Blue Ridge Medical Center. If you'd like to pledge please email me by the 22nd, I could use your support. Sarah and I are doing a StageIt duo show live from Monkeyclaus on June 24th, you can tune in and stream it from anywhere there's a decent internet connection. I finish off the month with solo shows at the Clementine Cafe in Harrisonburg and Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton. Stay busy, the alternative is unacceptable.
May 4 Diversity
After three three-week 'Duster tours in 3 months, there is little time to idle. This past week I played upright in a session for a friends record, I shedded on the e-bass in preparation for the second ever Sunliner gig, opening for Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers and played my first solo show in almost a month at Blue Mountain Barrel House. Next week Sarah and I play a duo show at the Rockfish Valley Community Center (a hometown gig) before I jump back on the bus for a Festy Promotional Tour to benefit Leave No Trace with the Stringdusters. Sunliner makes appearances at both the Dominion Riverrock Festival and Roosterwalk, alongside the 'Dusters and I finish out the month with solo shows in the neighborhood at Democracy Vineyards, Devils Backbone Outpost and a favorite, the Nelson Farmers Market. First week of June I'll be back in the studio with friends at Monkeyclaus and Sarah and I are playing two duo shows in North Carolina... good thing I'm at the beach right now getting some rest and relaxation. See you out there!
April 3 Let It Go
Last Tuesday, the Stringdusters released our 5th studio album, titled Let It Go. It's far and away the best thing the 5 of us have ever made together. This week I'm back in Nelson County with an afternoon show on Sunday, April 6th at Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton, VA. The second leg of the 'Dusters record release tour kicks off in Denver April 11 with two nights at the Ogden Theater and finishes at Jazz Fest in New Orleans. In May Sunliner will hit the stage for our second time at The Southern in Charlottesville, VA in support of Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers and again in Richmond at the Dominion River Rock Festival.
